Craig Terblanche

Managing Director

  • Craig is a Management Consultant with extensive experience in IT re-alignment assignments during Mergers, Acquisitions and operational restructures. Craig has also undertaken international interim management assignments in executive positions for global Information Technology and Telecommunications companies.
  • In 1998 Craig started SolveIT (Pty) Ltd (IT Management Consultancy) and undertook a number of successful assignments for Financial Services and IT companies. SolveIT was particularly well-known for IT Risk Management Consulting and Benchmarking to reduce IT risks and costs. When CCH acquired SolveIT, Craig was appointed as the Chief Operating Officer of CCH Hosted Services where he drove the operational efficiency and service effectiveness of the Hosting, Business Continuity, Call Centre and Application Services Business Units.
  • Most of Craig’s experience is in IT Management Consulting in Financial Services institutions based on his extensive experience at the Standard Bank of SA. During his 17 years at Standard Bank Craig established operations for Johannesburg Computer Centre (which he ultimately managed) including high availability and disaster recovery facilities, networks and systems. These included the management and deployment of many mission critical applications such as Treasury Dealing, Data Warehouse, Credit Risk and Branch Delivery. Craig also established client/server operations (including software distribution, technical support, systems and user acceptance testing) and the rollout and ongoing maintenance and support of 15000 PC’s and 800 Servers for Standard Bank as the Senior Manager, LAN Services, responsible for delivery of application services to Standard Bank branches and office systems and application services to head office users. Most of this was achieved through effective programme management and governance.
  • In 2005 Craig established CXO Advisor after undertaking a number of succesful strategic advisory programmes for MetaGroup. With the acquisition of MetaGroup by Gartner the market opportunity to provide independent advisory and assurance services resulted in CXO Advisor. CXO Advisor represent Datamonitor, Computerwire, ButlerGroup and now also Ovum in Southern Africa.

Garrett Matthews

Managing Director

  • Formally Associate Director at Arup (Pty) Ltd Garrett led the firms’ Management Consulting Unit; the business offered Transaction Advisory and Business Turnaround services; each designed to underpin the technical expertise and rich history of firm.
  • Prior to Arup, he held the post of Senior Manager at Deloitte Consulting South Africa as part of the firm’s Change Dynamic service offering. He also held such post as Associate with the strategy consultancy Blue Peter. In this role he helped lead one of the largest and most challenging governmental transformations in the country that of the Department of Public Works.
  • In 2010 Garrett Founded Matt&Co Advisory; the firm acts as the backbone to its channel and strategic partners, ensuring execution capacity and return on investment from key initiatives and projects undertaken. He specializes in transaction advisory, business improvement and joint venture management.
  • In 2009 he was special advisor to the National Department of Transport - Public Transport Unit; during this time acted as co-Chairman of the National Joint Working Group (NJWG); the NJWG structure was created to facilitate the working relationship between government and the Taxi industry. He has acted as senior transaction advisor to Telkom’s procurement division; leading the negotiation teams in preparing and executing price re-negotiations with some of Telkom’s largest vendors.
  • Internationally he has gained valuable experience at such worldwide firms as Booz, Allen & Hamilton (BAH), Computer Science Corporation (CSC), Aspen Systems and GTE South. In 1993, Garrett founded the management-consulting firm World Business Advisors (located in Washington, DC).
  • He has founded such companies as SA Energy, African Value Energy (co-founder), AVA (co-founder) and the Advisory Group; has also served as board member at the Institute of People Management (2004 to 2006) as well as the Institute of Management Consulting South Africa.

Terry White

Research Director

  • Terry is the Research Director at CXO Advisor.
  • Terry’s strategic expertise in IT is recognized worldwide: “Terry White is one of the most original thinkers in IT to surface in recent years. He was one of the first IT gurus to identify the need for IT departments to radically transform themselves to accommodate the realities of the twenty-first century”. Professor of IT (UK).
  • Terry runs workshops and Master Classes in Europe, England, and Russia, with Ovum, as well as facilitating numerous IT strategy sessions at the highest level in South Africa. Terry is a regular invited speaker at influential IT forums throughout the world.
  • Terry is an expert in IT Finance, and offers CIO's ways of managing their IT finances using market economics as a model. IT Finance is one of the key elements of King III governance, and as such provides the Board with an approach to meeting their governance responsibilities from  a business mindset (rather than an IT mindset).
  • Terry is the author of three books on IT management: Reinventing the IT Department; What business really wants from IT; and Speed up the mess. He writes regularly for numerous IT magazines, both locally and overseas. One book has been translated into Russian.
  • He is a working member of the IVI (Innovation Value Institute) developing maturity frameworks for IT Value with a worldwide team. This initiative is sponsored by Intel, Microsoft, Boston Consulting Group and many other international players to institute a value perspective to IT.
  • He has a Masters in Commerce (IT) and has lectured at a number of tertiary institutions on IT, change management and strategy. He is currently studying for his Doctorate in IT Finance.
