Entrepreneurship and Innovation
Group Information
Entrepreneurship is the practice of starting new organizations or revitalizing mature organizations, particularly new businesses generally in response to identified opportunities. Technology often presents the opportunity to utilise an existing business model to create something new for the organisation.
The assumption for “Managing IT like a Business” is that IT entrepreneurship takes place inside an established organisation, and involves using IT to develop new products, markets, channels, and businesses, associated with that organisation.
Entrepreneurial activities in IT depend on the intensity, maturity and posture of IT in the Organisation
.
Take a Quick Maturity
and Posture Assessment here
IT posture is the sum of the attitude that an organisation has towards their IT function, and self-image that IT has of itself within that organisation. The result affects the role that IT plays (and can play) in the business – both positive and negative. It goes without saying that posture dramatically affects IT value perceptions (and realities).
This is not the full assessment, which is normally done as a workshop but this will give you a sense of some of the considerations.
